Bowyer: "I’m a lucky manager to have fans like that"

Charlton Manager Lee Bowyer heaped praise on the club’s travelling supporters following his side’s late 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers.

Naby Sarr struck deep into stoppage time to earn Charlton a crucial point and Bowyer believes the 2,787 Addicks, some watching in restricted view seats, played an important role.

He said: “I’m a lucky manager to have a group like that. Since I’ve been in charge they’ve been unbelievable home and away.

“They were the same last year and they’ve been like that again this season. They just get behind the lads. They’ve obviously taken on board what I’ve said, in that they play an important part in our results. They didn’t stop singing and they helped us get that point at the end.”

Charlton host Bristol City on Boxing Day and Bowyer is expecting a tough game after losing in the eighth minute of stoppage time at Ashton Gate in October.

“When we played them at there place I thought it was a good game and another game we should of won, the amount of chances we created that night,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to the game. The most important thing is that we get the rest into the players because the games are going to come quick and fast and we have no players coming back from injury. The sooner we can get them rested up the better.”
