Charlton Athletic Women play host to high flying Sheffield United Women on Sunday and the Addicks will be hoping for an important three points at The Oakwood in Crayford.
The Blades have been in impressive form this season and find themselves third in the table, a point behind Durham with a game in hand.
At the other end of the table, the Addicks have struggled for form and are till yet to record a win despite some dominating performances.
Sheffield United come into the game off the back of a week’s rest as their match against Crystal Palace was postponed. Whereas Charlton were unlucky to fall to defeat against top of the league Aston Villa.
Following the loss in the midlands, Charlton Women’s manager Riteesh Mishra explained the belief that he has in his squad and how he thinks the Addicks have what it takes to beat Sheffield United this weekend.
“Sheffield United are a good team. They’re strong, they’re powerful but if we play as well as we did in the second half against Villa, I’m confident of beating them,” he said.
This sentiment is echoed by 19-year-old midfielder Alice Griffiths who said: “We believe that we have enough quality within the squad to start getting results. We will continue to work hard and hopefully we will get the rewards for our efforts.”
With two games in hand on 10th place Crystal Palace, Charlton are looking to pick up points in an attempt to climb out of the relegation place, starting this Sunday.
