Patrick Bauer has donated his match-worn, play-off final shirt to the Jack Jeffreys Super Hero Trust.
The trust raise funds to help children with cancer and other life threatening/limiting illnesses in the form of different projects in and out of hospital.
A justgiving page has been set up and for £15 fans can be in with a chance of winning the signed shirt, one of two he wore during the Addicks incredible, late win against Sunderland in last year's final.
The Superhero Trust was created in memory of Charlton fan Jack who was diagnosed on August 7th 2017 with stage four Neuroblastoma.
His treatment included 10 rounds of chemotherapy, high dose chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, radiotherapy. Sadly, before he started the immunotherapy, he developed a secondary tumour which he began a new course of chemotherapy for. He fought bravely but the treatment did not work and there was nothing more that could be done.
Jack passed away on Saturday, July 21st 2018 just 10 days before his fifth birthday.
The shirt has already raised more than £6,000 for the charity, which is run by Jack’s parents Grant and Katie.
Bauer wrote himself into Charlton history last May when he scored a dramatic, stoppage-time, winning goal which saw the Addicks promoted to the Championship.
He explained why he wanted to donate his shirt: “When I came up with the idea I wanted to raise money for a worthy cause, I spoke to Tracey Leaburn [Player Liaison Officer at Charlton Athletic], who I know has helped out other players with fundraising. We agreed it was important to raise money for a charity that means something to me, which is why I chose the Jack Jeffreys Super Hero Trust.
“As a parent, I can’t even imagine the pain Jack’s parents, Grant and Katie, have been through. Despite the tragedy of losing Jack at such a young age, they are now doing something truly incredible in his name.
“I will never forget scoring that goal at Wembley and the shirt we are giving away, which is one of two I wore that day, is a prized possession. Another day that I will always remember, is the first home game of that season at The Valley against Shrewsbury Town. That game was dedicated to the memory of Jack. Grant and his father came out with the teams and it was a very emotional day.
“The work Grant and Katie do has such a positive impact on families going through awful times, I hope we can raise as much money as possible for the charity.”
