Addicks striker Josh Davison has spoken to cafc.co.uk upon signing his two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.
“I’m buzzing to sign a deal,” he said after agreeing his new contract last week.
“I’ve learnt so much in the year that I’ve been here, so it was only right to stay.”
20-year-old Davison signed from non-League Enfield Town earlier this season and has impressed when given a chance in the first team, netting in a crucial 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion in January.
When asked about his season, Davison said: “I didn’t expect to be thrown in and play as many games as I did so soon, it’s been a fantastic learning experience for me and has only improved me as a player. I feel like I’ve become twice the player since I’ve been here.
“Every time I step out onto the pitch I work hard, of course, that’s the minimum. To get rewarded for it shows I’m doing something right.”
The powerful striker learned his trade playing non-league football, but believes the step up to the Championship has helped him develop as a player, who is excited to carry on his journey at the club.
“Playing non-league is completely different, from the players to the quality,” he explained.
“For me to step out in the Championship, I’ve learned so much.
“I don’t expect to start every game but when I do, I’ll give it my best. I just need to train hard and do my best to help the team.”
