Erhun Oztumer has joined League One side Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan.
Like George Lapslie, who has been loaned to Mansfield Town, the move allows Oztumer to play regular first-team football and frees up salary cap room for Charlton to try and use ahead of Friday's 5pm transfer deadline.
“Ozzie has come in and it has been difficult for him to stamp down a regular position,” Lee Bowyer explained.
“We’ve tried him and he’s done well for us at times. He’ll go and get regular football and see what he can do once he goes out and then it might benefit us in the long run but most importantly he goes out and plays games.”
Oztumer has made 19 appearances for the Addicks, scoring once, after signing for the club last summer.
The transfer window closes at 5pm on Friday and Bowyer said that Oztumer and Lapslie leaving on loan deals, will allow him and Director of Football Steve Gallen a bit more flexibility as they aim to add to their squad.
He said: “Because the cap is so tight, the loans free up a little bit that we can maybe use the money for elsewhere, so that is what we are looking to do.”
