Charlton Athletic are delighted to complete the signing of Andrew Shinnie on a season-long loan from Luton Town.
The Scotland international has proven pedigree in League One and was a key player in their 2018/19 promotion season.
The midfielder adds quality to the Addicks’ midfield and Charlton Manager Lee Bowyer was delighted to add a crucial cog to his squad ahead of Friday’s afternoon’s transfer deadline. He said: “He’s a very good player. He’s a good footballer in the final third who has seen it and done it in this league and higher.”
Shinnie was promoted the last time he played in League One and he has his eyes set on repeating that achievement this season. He said: “I’m delighted to be here. I think the manager liked that I had experience of promotion in this division. It can be a tough division, we had a brilliant season just getting over the line [in 2018/19], so I’ve got that experience, so I want to bring it here to help the rest of the lads as well.”
Incredibly Shinnie becomes the club’s eighth signing since Thomas Sandgaard took over, just three weeks ago. He said: “I look forward to welcoming Andrew to Charlton. He is a player with the quality and experience to excel at this level, as he has done before.”
