Charlton fans may get to see Marcus Maddison in action during Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle.
The attacking midfielder joined the club in October but has made just one brief appearance from the substitutes bench in Charlton’s draw with Sunderland.
Speaking at his pre-Plymouth press conference, Lee Bowyer explained: “Maddison, this is the perfect opportunity now for him to get some minutes under his belt. There are a few that are like that.
“Tomorrow’s side that we are putting out is in my eyes a good side. We’ve got some youth in there, we’ve got players with experience in there. I feel like we are strong all over the park.”
The Charlton Manager explained there would be changes from the side that beat Fleetwood Town on Tuesday with Jake Forster-Caskey expected to play a role to manage his minutes.
He added: “Even though we’ve made a lot of changes from Tuesday, the 11 that is going out there, I expect them to win and I want them to win.
“The most important thing for me tomorrow is that we come through it unscathed and don’t pick up any injuries. At the end of the day, these players that are playing need to top up on minutes, which will keep them in better stead for when league games come back around.
“There will still be a few kids in there. At the end of the day, this club gives kids opportunities. We’ve had a few players that have played this season and they are going to have another go. It is about their development, Keep pushing them and see how they react.
“These next two games are going to be more opportunities for a few of the young lads, which is good, it excites me. I want to see how they grab this opportunity. I don’t doubt them, I trust them all, if I didn’t I wouldn’t play them.”
The Addicks take on an Argyle side who sit eighth in League One after an impressive start following last season’s promotion.
Bowyer said: “He [Ryan Lowe] is doing a great job. Watching them on the computer, they are a side that like to play the right way, they play from the back, with good structure and work for each other and they have got players that can hurt you.”
