TEAM NEWS | Maddison set for first Charlton start with Williams and Aneke recalled

Marcus Maddison will make his first start as a Charlton player in today’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle at The Valley.

The attacking midfielder joined the Addicks in October and has made just one brief appearance from the substitutes bench after picking up minor knocks in training.

Lee Bowyer said in his pre-game press conferences that he would make changes but he still expected his side to win.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer will start in goal, behind a likely defence of Adam Matthews, Charlie Barker, Ryan Inniss and Ben Purrington. 

If Bowyer opts for 4-3-3 then Jake Forster-Caskey, Albie Morgan and Dylan Levitt may make up the midfield with Jonny Williams and Maddison either side of Chuks Aneke in a front three. 

Birthday-boy Brendan Wiredu is joined on the substitutes bench by Ben Amos, Ian Maatsen, Darren Pratley, James Vennings, Aaron Henry and Conor Washington.
