Ben Amos has been named Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for October.
The Addicks stopper has been recognised following an outstanding month which saw him keep six consecutive clean sheets, going over nine hours without conceding a goal as his side picked up five wins and one draw from their six games in October.
Speaking of his award, Amos paid tribute to his teammates for their part towards an impressive run of results.
“It’s a nice achievement, but you can’t keep clean sheets on your own,” he explained.
“You need everyone from the players up front to the boys at the back, so it’s testament to them. A lot of players have played their part in us getting those clean sheets.”
Meanwhile, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was full of praise after his goalkeeper received recognition for his performances.
“It’s well deserved,” he said.
“He’s had a great start to the season and I never doubted for one second that he would come back in and do well for us. There are a lot of things that go on that people don’t recognise with goalkeepers. He relieves us a lot with coming for crosses, he’s been outstanding at that, and he’s a big part of why we went on such a long run with clean sheets.”
Bowyer himself was nominated for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month award, but was ultimately pipped to the prize by Peterborough United’s Darren Ferguson who led his side to six wins and a draw during October, having played a game more due to the Addicks having a game postponed for the international break.
The winners of both awards were chosen by a judging panel comprising of Danny Wilson, Don Goodman, EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
