Lee Bowyer makes three changes to his side to face Blackpool at The Valley this afternoon, with Darren Pratley captaining the side on his 100th appearance for the Addicks.
Following the 2-1 loss at home to Burton Albion earlier in the week, Chris Gunter, Akin Famewo and Conor Washington come into the line-up as Adam Matthews, Jason Pearce and Ben Watson drop to the bench.
Ben Amos continues in goal with Gunter, Deji Oshilaja, Famewo and Ben Purrington in defence. Andrew Shinnie and Pratley play in central midfield with Liam Millar and Diallang Jaiyesimi operating out wide. A partnership of Conor Washington and Jayden Stockley is preferred up top.
Lee Bowyer explained the decision to play the pair together: “I think we need that pace up top and the threat in behind. We haven’t had that the last couple of games. He’s back and fit, this is his opportunity.”
Famewo returns to the starting line-up as he builds fitness, and the manager explained the loanee’s situation.
“We have to manage players and Akin is no different. I wanted to play him on Tuesday, but we have to manage him. Today he’s back in and let’s hope he performs to the level we know he can.” explained Bowyer.
Stockley will be looking to keep up his fantastic goalscoring form at home, having netted in each of the last three matches at The Valley – with Shinnie assisting each goal.
Academy goalkeeper Nathan Harness is named on the bench, with Ashley Maynard-Brewer ruled out as the shot stopper continues to follow concussion protocol.
Charlton: Amos; Gunter, Famewo, Oshilaja, Purrington; Millar, Pratley, Shinnie, Jaiyesimi; Washington, Stockley.
