Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the appointment of Leo Rifkind as Non-Executive Director.
Rifkind currently practices at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and played an important role in Thomas Sandgaard’s takeovers of Charlton Athletic and Charlton Athletic Women. Rifkind will continue to work with Sandgaard to advance the strategy of the club and ensure Charlton is governed for the best interests of the fans and the community.
Speaking of the appointment Sandgaard said: “As everyone will be aware the takeover of Charlton was a complicated process and couldn’t have been done without the help and advice of Freshfields. Leo has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in sport, so I am pleased we’ve been able to bring him to the club.”
Rifkind graduated from the London School of Economics, then completing a Masters in Law at Berkeley Law School, California and subsequently teaching the Law of Business Associations at the London School of Economics. Prior to his work at Freshfields, he has practised corporate law at some of the world’s most prestigious law firms, including at Skadden Arps in London and New York, and Simpson Thacher in London.
