Lee Bowyer makes just the one change to his side to face Shrewsbury Town at The Valley this afternoon, with Akin Famewo replacing Jake Forster-Caskey.
This change sees Darren Pratley move into midfield alongside Ben Watson.
Following the 2-1 victory against Northampton Town in midweek, Ben Amos continues in goal with Chris Gunter, Jason Pearce, Famewo and Ian Maatsen making up the defence. Watson and Pratley are deployed in front of the defence, with Liam Millar and Albie Morgan operating in the wider areas. Jayden Stockley starts up front with Tuesday’s match winner Conor Washington.
Ashley Maynard-Brewer returns to the bench after featuring for the U23s on Tuesday. He has now followed the concussion protocols to be available for selection.
Aside from the goalkeeper, the bench remains unchanged as Chuks Aneke, Matt Smith, Deji Oshilaja, Andrew Shinnie, Diallang Jaiyesimi and Ronnie Schwartz are named as the substitutes.
Talking about his team selection, Lee Bowyer said: “We’ve only made one change. We knew we had to rest Akin on Tuesday night so that he’d be fit for today and ready to come in.
“Jake [Forster-Caskey] has a couple of knocks, nothing serious. It’s another one of those that isn’t worth the risk with so many games in a short space of time. Let’s let his body recover and bring Pratley into the middle of the park. For me it’s the right thing to do.”
Charlton: Amos, Gunter, Pearce, Famewo, Maatsen, Pratley, Watson, Morgan, Millar, Stockley, Washington.
Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Oshilaja, Jaiyesimi, Aneke, Shinnie, Smith, Schwartz.
