Charlton have made two changes to the starting XI to face Bristol Rovers this evening as Johnnie Jackson takes charge of his first match in the dugout following the departure of Lee Bowyer.
There are returns to the starting line-up for midfield duo Andrew Shinnie and Jake Forster-Caskey under the Caretaker Manager.
Following the 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, Ben Amos continues in goal with Chris Gunter, Jason Pearce, Akin Famewo and Ian Maatsen making up the defence. Forster-Caskey and Shinnie return to midfield alongside Albie Morgan and Liam Millar. Jayden Stockley starts up front with Saturday’s goalscorer Conor Washington.
Darren Pratley and Ben Watson drop to the bench alongside Chuks Aneke, Deji Oshilaja, Diallang Jaiyesimi and Ronnie Schwartz. Ashley Maynard-Brewer is named as the substitute goalkeeper.
The Addicks sit in eight position, two points behind sixth place whilst today’s visitors find themselves in 19th, one point off the relegation zone.
Speaking on his first team selection, former Addick’s skipper Jackson said: “I’d be lying if I said I’m not enjoying this responsibility. It’s no secret that this is what I want to do, and at this football club. It’s a huge ambition of mine. To get the opportunity to pick the side and be more hands on is something I’m really excited for.
“Jake [Forster-Caskey] has been great over the last few months, he’s been a real talisman for the team. He had a niggle at the weekend, so we had to be careful but it’s right to bring him back in, he’s ready to go. Andrew Shinnie was excellent at the weekend when he came on, he had an impact and deserves a start.”
