Nigel Adkins has made four changes to the starting XI to face Lincoln City on Tuesday evening.
Adam Matthews, Ben Purrington, Ben Watson and Liam Millar all return to the starting line up with Chris Gunter, Jason Pearce, Darren Pratley and Conor Washington dropping to the bench.
Charlton lined up in a 3-5-2 against Accrington Stanley on the weekend but it appears that the Addicks will revert to four at the back for today’s game. If so, Matthews, Ryan Inniss, Akin Famewo and Purrington will make up the defence in front of Ben Amos.
The midfield will consist of Alex Gilbey, Jake Forster-Caskey and Watson. Millar and Ian Maatsen would operate in the wider areas, providing service for lone striker Jayden Stockley.
Going into today’s fixture, the Addicks sit in eighth position in the table and a win would see Charlton climb to one point within the play-off places. To finish the season in the top six, Charlton would require results to go their way on the last game of the season.
Speaking on the team selection, Nigel Adkins said: “We always have to look at who’s available and who’s not. There have been players coming back from injury.
“I’m taking a gamble on a few players tonight because we have to. Over the course of the game, I’m hoping that we can get the right players on the pitch at the right times to give ourselves a chance to win this game of football.”
