Jonathan Leko is itching to get back to The Valley having returned to Charlton on a season-long loan deal from Birmingham City on deadline day.
The 22-year-old saw his fruitful loan spell with the Addicks during the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship campaign come to a premature end owing to an ACL injury, with the forward admitting he now returns to SE7 with unfinished business.
“I don’t think I ever got to finish the last part of the season, obviously I just got injured with my knee,” explained Leko. “I just want to get back to where I was before and then just do well and score goals.
“I can’t wait to get started. It was a bit of a late signing but I’m just really happy that it’s over the line and I’m really happy to be back.
“I can’t wait to get back to The Valley and get back playing, just doing well and meeting all of the fans... it will be great. I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running. I’m just looking forward to meeting the lads and getting on with the games.”

Leko revealed the exchange he shared with former Charlton manager and current Blues boss Lee Bowyer before rejoining the Addicks, with the international break now affording the 22-year-old time to get familiar with Nigel Adkins’ squad ahead of the Cheltenham Town clash on Saturday, September 11th.
“I spoke to Lee Bowyer before I came here; he was just like, ‘just go back there, play games and get back to where you were before.’ It’s been good.
“The international break gives me a bit of time to meet all of the lads and to get all my stuff down and to get settled, so I’m happy about that. Saying hello to Jake [Forster-Caskey], Pearcey [Jason Pearce] and meeting all the new lads as well so I can’t wait.”
