Charlton Athletic Women kick off their 2021/22 FA Women’s Championship campaign on Sunday afternoon (2pm) when they host Coventry United at The Oakwood in Crayford.
The opening-day clash marks the Addicks’ first ever competitive game as a full-time, professional team having undergone the transition this summer under Head Coach Karen Hills.
Charlton’s original opening game of the season against Lewes was postponed after a number of individuals within the Charlton Athletic Women camp tested positive for Covid-19.
The away side, meanwhile, have also made the transition into a professional outfit this summer, making key signings ahead of the season, including two-time Championship golden boot winner and 2020/21 Player of the Season, Katie Wilkinson.
Charlton’s last meeting with Coventry saw the Addicks come away with a vital 2-0 win in February, with Jess King and Lois Heuchan on the scoresheet as the Addicks fought their way out of a relegation battle.
The Addicks’ last home game against Coventry saw the away side clinch all three points in dramatic fashion, winning 3-2 after going 2-0 down.
Supporters can follow all the build-up to Sunday’s game on Charlton Athletic Women’s official Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Fans can buy tickets on the turnstiles, which open at 1pm, priced at £12 for adults and £7 for concessions. Tickets can only be purchased by card.
