Pape Souaré is looking forward to finally getting back on track after penning a one-year deal with the Addicks.
The left-back suffered injury following a road accident in 2016 before returning to fitness and making a move to French side Troyes in 2019.
With the COVID-19 pandemic halting his continued progression shortly after, the Senegal international is now hoping to get games under his belt and get back to his best.
“I’m very, very happy to be here,” he explained.
“I’ve been here for a few days and the welcome and the love of the players and staff has made me feel very good and happy.
“I just can’t wait to get started again. It was hard with the pandemic, that was hard for everyone, and the accident was very hard for me and my family, but I just can’t wait to get started because I’m ready to go.
“I can’t wait to see the fans at The Valley and bring everything that I have to give to them.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about the fans here and about the stadium.”
Meanwhile, the 31-year old explained what supporters can expect to see from him in the red of Charlton.
“I’m a defender first, but you can also expect to see me running around the wing,” he said.
“With the Premier League and the international games that I have played, that gives me some experience that I can bring to the club.
“I have been training for a while so I’m ready to get going and help bring this club back to where it belongs. I’m really excited.”
