Charlton Athletic Women Manager Karen Hills has previewed this evening’s Continental Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur.
“It’s going to be a tough test for us but I’m looking forward to it. The team have proved that they can compete with a WSL side already against Brighton, and this will be another opportunity for us to test ourselves against a good opposition.”
Hills managed Tottenham for over 10 years and is excited to see some familiar faces this evening.
“Obviously, I know the club well and there are still a lot of players there that I recruited when I was at the club so I’m looking forward to seeing them. However, it’s another game I want us to compete in and try to win – and we’re going to go into the fixture with that mentality. We have a good squad and I know that I can trust the players to go out there and give their everything.”
Tonight’s game is the Addicks’ second in a three-game week, having played Bristol City on Sunday and are yet to travel to Lewes this Sunday in the league.
“It’s another three-game week so it’s a lot of work for the girls, their rest and recovering is going to be key ahead of the next two games.
“The Conti Cup is an opportunity to play more competitive games away from the pressure of the league. My players will give 100% as the fans have seen so far this season so I’m looking forward to an entertaining game tonight.”
