A new pricing structure for Valley Express has been put in place to make it more affordable for supporters to get to games at The Valley.
Valley Express offers supporters transport to and from Charlton from dozens of pick-up points across Kent and Sussex and the new structure sees tickets priced at £10.
The pricing has been put in place for the upcoming visit of Doncaster Rovers on October 30th. Valley Express tickets for the game go on sale from 9.30am on Friday, October 15th.
Commercial Director, Wayne Mumford, explained: “The support this season at The Valley has been excellent and we want as many fans in the stadium as possible to help drive the team on. At the club’s Fans’ Forum last month, the point was made that the Valley Express pricing makes it unattractive for current supporters and potential new fans.
“We looked at the pricing structure of Valley Express and spoke to the people who created the service in 2004/05 and oversaw it when it was at its most popular. The new pricing makes supporting the team more affordable and we hope will encourage more supporters from across Kent and Sussex to come to The Valley.”
Rick Everitt, Charlton's former head of club development, and one of those consulted along with his ex-deputy Wendy Perfect, said: “We are proud of what was achieved by Valley Express in the 2000s, with literally thousands arriving by coach at many games. I’m certain that over time, and with the help of fans in Kent and Sussex spreading the word in their local area as they did back then, something similar can happen again in the future."
Tickets were previously priced between £14 and £16. Any supporter who purchased a seasonal Valley Express pass after the early-bird deadline will be contacted by the ticket office to refund any money that has been spent over £10 per game.
The game against Doncaster Rovers is the club’s annual Bring Your Kids For A Quid game and, as part of that campaign, places on the Valley Express coaches for U11s are available for just £5.
