Charlton Athletic Women Manager Karen Hills spoke to the club following yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Sheffield United.
“I’m pleased with the point, I’m pleased with the performance,” Hills explained.
“Coming to Sheffield is always a tough ask, they’ve had a couple of disappointing results in the last couple of weeks, pretty much the same as us. The game was quite open, anyone could have had it in the end but I was really pleased with our performance and I thought the girls worked really hard for that point.
“Sometimes you’ve got to try and take the emotion out of it, which is difficult especially when the game gets quite heated. But I thought the girls handled it in a really positive manner, it gets a little bit frantic at times so you need some leaders on the pitch that can recognise it and take the sting out the game.
“Overall I thought the girls worked really hard and deserved a point. We created some good chances today, now the next bit for us is that little bit of quality in the final third and we know we need to be better at that.
“The build-up play was good, some of the patterns we looked at during the week really came out so from a coaches point of view you’re pleased to see that. The players are really trying to execute the game plan and it was always going to be a tough ask to come here and get the win but like I said I’m really pleased with the point.”
The Addicks face Crystal Palace this weekend at Hayes Lane as Karen Hills’ side will look to get back to winning ways.
