Sam Lavelle updates on his progress following his surgery

Sam Lavelle sustained a groin injury and was forced to come off just after the half hour mark during Charlton’s 1-0 victory against Sunderland in October.

Since then he has undergone surgery on his groin and began his rehabilitation stage.

Speaking to CharltonTV ahead of the Addicks' game against his former side, Morecambe, he said: “Surgery went well, all the post-surgery has gone well, I can’t ask for more, I am doing pretty well I think.

“It feels like a new era here at Charlton, all positive in the changing room and everyone in the physio room is itching to get back like myself."

Lavelle is yet to play a full 90 minutes under Caretaker Manager Johnnie Jackson, however he was full of praise when questioned about the team’s excellent run of form.

He said: “I am so happy we have turned the corner, from Sunderland away when I got injured, since then it has become a completely different team, different vibe, everyone has been so positive in training."

Since joining the Addicks on a three-year deal earlier on in the summer, the centre half has made nine appearances, being a key part of the defence on a number of occasions and scoring twice.

He added: “I am itching to get back, I’ll do my rehab properly and hopefully benefit from this mentally and physically as well. Hopefully when I am back, we can push for the top end of the table.”
