Ella Rutherford was pleased with a fantastic team performance as she scored twice in Wednesday’s 5-0 win for Charlton away to Watford.
The Addicks produced an excellent display to thrash Watford in their final game of the Continental League Cup group stages.
Speaking after the game, Rutherford said: “It was a dominant performance from us all. We looked to come here and work on things that [they’ve] been working on in the last few weeks, it’s really paid off. It shows obviously by scoring five goals, it could’ve got a few more, but we’re happy with the performance.”
Rutherford has been in fine goalscoring form this season, including scoring some sensational goals from outside the box. On Wednesday, both goals were poachers finishes. She said: "A goal is a goal, both shots were just hard and low, but it’s always good to get on the scoresheet, so it's positive from me today.”
Lovely passing was exhibited from the team, which was worked on in training, and Rutherford explained: “We just wanted to come here today, dominate, and work on final third things. We could’ve gone and got a few more, so that’s something else we need to work on.”
The Addicks are away to Gillingham in the Vitality Women's FA Cup on Sunday
Looking ahead towards the game against Gillingham in the FA Cup, she said: “The FA Cup is brilliant, sort of what you look forward to, so as a team we are just going to look on building from today and going to put another positive performance in and dominate that hopefully on Sunday."
