Mary Bashford, aged just 17, made her full debut in last weekend's 1-0 win against Gillingham in the FA Cup.
Bashford made her senior debut in November after impressing manager Karen Hills.
Speaking to CharltonTV after enjoying 90 minutes against the Gills, the midfielder said: “I was so happy to be able to get onto the pitch and get my first start. It was great to be out there with the girls competing. It was so much fun.
"My team-mates mean so much to me. They’ve helped me get through this and get up to the first team. They’ve supported me since the beginning. Even when they didn’t know me, they were so encouraging. I’m just so grateful for them and all that they’ve done.”
Bashford has been training with the first team and is looking forward to 2022.
“I’d love to get more game time, more starts and just keep working for this team because it’s such a great club and I love it here.”
