Eartha Cumings on her outstanding save and four consecutive clean sheets

Eartha Cumings reflected on her miraculous save that helped the Addicks secure a point at the Oakwood against Sheffield United.

The 0-0 draw was the fourth consecutive clean sheet for Cumings across all competitions.

The stopper said: “It feels good, I’ve never done that before so it’s quite nice. It feels good going into games knowing you’re not conceding goals.

When asked about the fantastic save she made to rescue the point, she explained: “It was a good cross and then the girl has done well to get up and beat our defender in the air and I was just sort of coming across.

“My goalie coach is always going on about me with these kinds of things. You’ve just got to wait as long as you can and try and stay balanced and just react to it.”

Cumings didn’t hesitate to praise her team-mates after the game: “The defence have been so solid. I think Kiera Skeels has been absolutely fantastic since she’s come into the back four.”

Despite not coming away with the win, the Charlton goalkeeper took away lots of positives: “We did create a few chances. It was just the final touch or the final pass wasn’t great. I think you can say that we dominated the game in possession.

“It was just the final product was just not quite there today. We were getting into good spaces but it just never quite came up.”

Cumings is confident, though, her side can continue their good run of form this upcoming Sunday against Lewes: “I think the point is massive. To begin the year with a defeat would have been a pretty bad way to begin it.

"But a point against a good team, a clean sheet and knowing that we can dominate games and I think we’re more than capable of doing that against Lewes as well.”
