Charlton are delighted to have secured the loan signing of Juan Castillo from Chelsea until the end of the season.
The speedy left wing-back becomes the Addicks' second signing of the January transfer window after Chuks Aneke rejoined Charlton last Friday.
The 22-year-old explained he is looking forward to playing for the Addicks. He said: "I'm really excited and looking forward to working with everyone and playing at The Valley in front of the fans.
"Once I heard that Charlton were interested, I looked at games on YouTube and the first thing that stood out was the fans and the atmosphere.
"I'm a creative player, I like to get up and down the left side and I bring energy. I hope that I can develop here and have a successful time. I can't wait to get started and show what I can do."
Manager Johnnie Jackson has played a key role in the success and development of loanees from Chelsea including Jay Dasilva, Conor Gallagher and Ian Maatsen. He said: “I like the fact that he is young and hungry. He will want to come here and really make his mark, having that youthful enthusiasm and energy is definitely something we need. Chelsea speak highly of him and we are really pleased to have him.”
Owner, Thomas Sandgaard, explained Castillo is a good fit for the Addicks’ system. He said: “We have been wanting to add a player with speed and attacking qualities to compete for places in the left wing back role. Juan matches that profile and is highly rated at Chelsea, so I’m looking forward to watching him play for us.”
The former Dutch youth international joined Chelsea in 2019 and has made 17 appearances in the top league in Holland during loan spells at Ajax and ADO Den Haag. He spent time on loan at Birmingham City earlier this season where he made five appearances.
