Charlton are delighted to confirm the deadline-day signing of attacking midfielder Scott Fraser from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old has proven quality in League One, scoring 20 goals and recording 20 assists during the past two-and-a-half years.
On signing with Charlton, Fraser penned a contract until the summer of 2025, and becomes the Addicks’ fourth addition of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Chuks Aneke, Juan Castillo and Nile John.
Speaking shortly after signing for the Addicks, Fraser explained how pleased he was to join the club: “I’m looking forward to playing for Charlton. It’s a big club, an ambitious club and I’m happy to be part of it. I’ve spoken to the Manager and to [Director of Recruiting] Steve Gallen – it is a club that has got the ambition to go and do well and that matches mine.”
Addicks Manager, Johnnie Jackson, said: “I’m really happy we’ve been able to bring Scott to the club. He is a player that I have admired from afar for a while, he has such quality and will be an excellent fit in our system.”
Fraser, like Aneke, joins on a three-and-a-half year contract and Owner, Thomas Sandgaard, explained the midfielder can help the club for years to come. He said: “Over the last few transfer windows, we’ve been able to add players on multi-year contracts to help us build for now and the future. Scott is an excellent player, who has plenty of goals and assists in recent seasons. He’ll come in and add attacking quality, so I’m looking forward to watching him play for Charlton.”
Fraser began his career at his local club Dundee United, making his first-team debut in 2014. After games for them in both the Scottish Premiership and Championship, he moved to Burton Albion in 2018, before joining Milton Keynes Dons in 2020. After a stand out season in Milton Keynes, he joined Ipswich Town last summer.
Fraser, who will wear the number 21 at Charlton, won’t be available for the Addicks' game against Portsmouth on Monday night, meaning he could make his debut on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon at The Valley.
