MATCH PREVIEW | AFC Wimbledon v Charlton

Charlton face an immediate turnaround in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night as they travel across the capital to take on AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Johnnie Jackson’s side will be seeking an instant return to winning ways having fallen to a first defeat in four at the hands of Lincoln City on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS

The Addicks will be without the services of the suspended Alex Gilbey and Chuks Aneke (calf), though Ryan Inniss (thigh) could potentially return to the matchday squad having resumed full training at Sparrows Lane.

Luke McCormick (ankle) and Sam Cosgrove (concussion) will both be assessed by the hosts, but Cheye Alexander (groin), Lee Brown (COVID) and Aaron Pressley (hamstring) are all sidelined.

THE OPPOSITION

A 21-game winless run prompted a managerial change in south-west London ahead of last weekend’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday, with former Addick Mark Bowen succeeding Mark Robinson in the Plough Lane hotseat.

That run was extended to 22 matches at Hillsborough on Saturday, though, as the Wombles fell to a sixth successive defeat owing to Lee Gregory’s stoppage-time strike.

With six games remaining, Bowen’s side sit four points adrift of safety in 22nd, albeit with a game in hand on 20th-placed Gilingham.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Wimbledon have gone toe-to-toe on 13 previous occasions with both sides boasting five wins apiece, while the remaining three encounters resulted in draws.

The Addicks came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture at The Valley in February thanks to goals from Inniss, Conor Washington and Akin Famewo.

Our last visit to Plough Lane, meanwhile, saw the sides share the spoils in March 2021, as Ryan Longman twice pegged Charlton back to earn the hosts a point after Jayden Stockley and Diallang Jaiyesimi had both fired the Addicks ahead.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Neil Hair will oversee proceedings on Tuesday night. The official last refereed a Charlton fixture in January - a 2-1 triumph over Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Hair will be assisted by Stephen Brown and Daniel Bonneywell, while Anthony Da Costa is the Fourth Official.

COLOURS

The Addicks will be sporting their home strip at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
