Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that the club have initiated the contract extension of Lauren Bruton, meaning the 29-year-old will be with the Addicks for the 2022/23 season.
The midfielder signed for Charlton at the start of the 2021/22 season following her departure from Reading, where she spent eight years with the Royals - including six seasons in the top flight.
Appointed as the team's first ever captain as a professional outfit last August, Bruton will once again wear the armband for the upcoming season.
She explained how excited she was to be spending another term in red and white: “I am delighted to have extended my contract with Charlton. I had a tough first year here with injuries but I'm really looking forward to helping the team progress and achieve more than last year. It's going to be a big year for the club and I'm excited to get started.”
Head Coach Karen Hills shared her delight at the news: “As club captain Lauren has grown into the role and has led by example, I'm super excited to see her continue to help the team on and off the pitch going into the new season. Lauren will be a player to watch this season as I believe she will show her true potential.”
