Participants from a Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) weekly social group for elderly people went on a day trip to Windsor recently as part of the programme, which promotes social inclusion.
CACT’s Extra Time group attend sessions at Valley Central Youth Hub every Wednesday morning to socialise with one another. There is a fitness class on offer and members also have access to table tennis, pool and board games.
More than 25 members attended the trip to Windsor, taking in a number of key sights.
CACT set up Extra Time to bring over 55s together and reduce the risk of social isolation.
Past activities have included theatre trips and a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show.
Jane, a member of Extra Time, said:
“It was a fantastic day, we all loved it. Thank you for organising that for our group.”
Anthony Quarm, CACT’s Primary Stars Officer, said:
“It’s wonderful to see the Extra Time group out for a trip together. The group has been growing and that’s also great to see.”
