Young fan on Family Fun Day experience

Following last month's Family Fun Day at The Valley, 12-year-old season-ticket holder Ethan Hui wrote an account of his day...

When I entered The Valley, I casted my eyes onto the heaps of supporters which spanned to the horizon.

After 20 minutes of patiently waiting in line, I stood in front of the West Stand gate and could hear the cheers and sounds of fun. I was so excited to enter the car park and start this exciting day!

There were a variety of activities available like FIFA, football, bouncy castles and bungee jumping. However, the one thing which caught my eye was the 2011/12 League One play-off trophy which stood at a table near me. The trophy was heavy and was very detailed.

Later on, I helped myself to piles of old Charlton matchday programmes from the Premier League, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Eventually, I lined up to enter the Charlton Athletic tour which was free! After 25 minutes of lining up, I was fascinated by the dressing rooms, tunnel and pitchside view.

When the tour ended, I immediately rushed to the 1905 Lounge where the players and staff were. I met the likes of Nathan Jones, Alex Mitchell, Luke Berry and Tyreece Campbell and many more. I managed to get their signatures and pictures.

Overall, I think the day was very exciting. The staff at the event were very helpful.
