Zach Mitchell has joined League Two side Colchester United on loan for the 2023/24 campaign.
The 18-year-old has played 11 times for the Addicks and made his full league debut under current Colchester Manager Ben Garner.
Technical Director Andy Scott said: “This is a really good move for Zach to go and play for a Manager that knows him and in a system that will suit his playing style.
“He has done well when called upon for the men’s first-team to date and this loan is the next stage of his development, giving him the opportunity to play regular football in a competitive league.”
Mitchell signed a three-year contract with the Addicks last summer and ended an impressive season picking up the EFL Apprentice of the Year award, which recognises outstanding young professionals at EFL clubs who excel both on and off the pitch.
