Player Biography

Conor Coventry signed for Charlton in January 2024, arriving from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder joined West Ham at the age of 10 and progressed through the ranks to pen his first professional contract in May 2018 following an outstanding campaign that saw him collect the club’s Academy Player of the Year award.

Coventry, who has captained various academy sides at West Ham, made his senior debut in September 2018, coming on as a substitute in the Hammers’ 8-0 win against Macclesfield Town in the Carabao Cup.

The Premier League side rewarded him with a new contract in the winter of 2020 and he subsequently joined Lincoln City on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

Coventry won the Football Association of Ireland’s U21s Player of the Year accolade in 2021 after captaining the side to their first-ever UEFA European Championships play-off and has gone to become the Republic of Ireland's all-time record holder for U21 international appearances. He received his first senior international call-up in March 2021.

He spent the first half of the 2021/22 season on loan in the Championship with Peterborough United, before joining MK Dons where he featured 22 times as the Dons secured a third-place finish in League One.

He made his Premier League debut on the opening day of the 2022/23 campaign against Manchester City and featured five times in the UEFA Europa Conference League as West Ham lifted the trophy.

Coventry joined Rotherham on loan in January 2023 and started 16 times in the Championship for the Millers.
