Greg Docherty joined the Addicks in July 2024, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal, with a club option of an additional year.
Born in Milngavie, Scotland, Docherty began his career at Hamilton Academical and progressed through the academy ranks to sign his first professional deal aged 16.
In December 2013, he made his senior debut against Alloa Athletic at the age of just 17.
The Scot would go on to make 108 appearances for the Accies prior to earning a move to Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers in January 2018.
He featured 14 times for Rangers in the latter half of the 2017/18 campaign before moving to Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town on loan.
The midfielder netted 10 goals and registered 11 assists during a hugely-successful season with the Shrews, culminating in him being named as the club’s Player of the Year.
Upon his return to Rangers, Docherty made a further five appearances in the Scottish League Cup and Europa League qualifying rounds prior to joining Hibernian on loan in January 2020.
He immediately impressed at Easter Road, contributing three goals and five assists during the Coronavirus-hit campaign.
Docherty completed a permanent move to Hull City in the summer of 2020 and quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite after starring in the Tigers’ Sky Bet League One title-winning campaign.
He featured 41 times across all competitions during the following season as Hull retained their second-tier status.
The former Scotland youth international continued his influence in 2022/23, making 36 appearances and scoring the Tigers’ Goal of the Season in a 3-1 triumph at Blackpool.
Docherty arrives at The Valley having played a role in 2023/24 for Hull, who missed out on the Sky Bet Championship play-off places on the final day.
In August 2024, the midfielder was named as Charlton's new club captain.
