Upon his return to Rangers, Docherty made a further five appearances in the Scottish League Cup and Europa League qualifying rounds prior to joining Hibernian on loan in January 2020.

He immediately impressed at Easter Road, contributing three goals and five assists during the Coronavirus-hit campaign.

The former Scotland youth international continued his influence in 2022/23, making 36 appearances and scoring the Tigers’ Goal of the Season in a 3-1 triumph at Blackpool.
