Charlton’s longest-serving player, Beth Roe signed a new one-year contract in the summer to take her stay with the club into a fifth season.
Initially joining on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the 2020/21 campaign before becoming a permanent member of the squad when the club turned professional a year later, the defender has racked up 91 appearances for the Addicks.
That includes the 28 games she played last season, making her the only member of Karen Hills’ squad to start every game across all competitions.
It made fan-favourite Roe, who claimed the 2022/23 Player of the Year award, an essential member of the Charlton defensive unit that conceded fewer goals than anyone else in the Women’s Championship last season.
She often made key interceptions and clearances that helped the Addicks maintain their solidity as they finished agonisingly close
to winning promotion, while her ability to travel forward with the ball down the wing makes her an important cog in Charlton’s attacking efforts.
Having been schooled in Norwich City youth system, Roe moved to Brighton in 2016 and graduated from the Seagulls’ academy. She would ultimately make 23 appearances for the Sussex club, including contributing to their 2017/18 Women’s Championship title-winning campaign, before moving to The Valley.
