Daniel Kanu joined the club at U11 level and penned his first professional contract in February 2022.

The prolific striker enjoyed a hugely-successful 2021/22 season as a first-year scholar, scoring 41 for the academy and winning the 2021/22 Valley Gold Young Player of the Year award.

Kanu earned his first team league debut at Wigan Athletic in February 2022, just 10 days after he put pen-to-paper on his maiden pro deal.

The forward scored his first senior goal for the Addicks in a Papa John's Trophy tie against Plymouth Argyle in November 2022, before making his full league debut a month later in Charlton's Boxing Day clash with Peterborough United at The Valley.

In October 2023, Kanu joined National League side Southend United on an initial 28-day loan, which was subsequently extended until January 2024.

The club recalled the forward from his loan spell in December 2023.

In February 2024, he committed his future to Charlton by signing a new long-term contract until 2027.
