Teenage midfielder Mary Bashford is an academy success story, having progressed through Charlton’s Regional Talent Club before signing her first professional contract in the summer of 2023.
Bashford, whose association with the Addicks began as a 15-year-old, made her debut as a 17-year-old in 2021 and was accelerated into the first team after impressing with the U21s.
The midfielder won’t turn 20 until the second month of the coming season, but has already made 31 first-team appearances for the Addicks and become an important member of Karen Hills’ side, playing 16 times across all competitions during her first year under a professional contract.
Known for her strong work ethic and positive attitude, she has impressed on and off the pitch, and becoming a staple of the first-team squad is reward for her efforts.
Bashford will be looking to continue her development during the 2024/25 campaign and push for a place in Hills’ starting line-up.
