CACT participants enjoy club afternoon at Ministry of Sound

-

Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) recently visited Ministry of Sound to attend a club afternoon, with the visit allowing adults with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy a nightclub experience at an iconic venue.

More than 40 participants attended the event, including those from the Charlton Upbeats, Short Breaks Befriending, Bexley Short Breaks, Inclusion & Transitions and Smerdon Adult Day Care Centre.

Crew from the EFL Highlights show, which airs regularly on ITV, were present at the event to capture footage of the afternoon and to carry out interviews with CACT's staff and participants. The feature on the visit to the Ministry of Sound aired at the weekend and can be watched in the video below.

Charlton Upbeat Will was interviewed as part of the EFL Highlights show’s feature, and said: “We have been in the Ministry of Sound doing the nightclub afternoon. I’ve been boogieing down and throwing lots of shapes!

“The people at Charlton are legendary, they’re my best friends and like my family.”

Steve Bannan, CACT's Short Breaks Manager, said about the visit: "Through linking up with Ministry of Sound, we were able to provide our adult groups with a memorable nightclub experience at one of London’s biggest clubs. This opportunity, which they may not usually get, enabled them to enjoy a nightclub experience in a safe environment.

"Feedback from the groups and families was very positive and capturing the day on camera gives them the chance to look back on their experience.

"We will look to put on another event in 2025 to continue the link between the two organisations and build upon this."
