Ahead of the men’s first-team’s home game against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, February 25th, Charlton Athletic will celebrate Young Greenwich Day as part of the club’s themed matchday calendar.
Young Greenwich is a universal youth service delivered in partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Metro Charity, and has been commissioned by the Royal Borough of Greenwich since 2020. The programme provides a safe, inclusive space for young people aged 8-19, as well as supporting those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities up to the age of 25.
Through Young Greenwich, participants have the chance to develop new skills, form lasting friendships, and take part in exciting trips and unique opportunities that may not be available to them elsewhere. Young Greenwich operates across four key Youth Hubs situated in Avery Hill, Hawksmoor, Woolwich and Valley Central.
Open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening, Valley Central, which is based at The Valley, will also host a special matchday event ahead of the Addicks’ game against Shrewsbury on Saturday. Young Charlton supporters will be able to enjoy a variety of activities, which will begin from 1pm. Activities will include:
- Live music and a DJ
- Cake decorating station
- Tie-dye and bracelet-making stations
- Arts and crafts area
- Face painting
- Young Greenwich merchandise and information on how to get involved
Additionally, partners such as Metro Judo and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust will be on hand to share information about the services and sessions they provide through Young Greenwich.
All young Charlton fans are welcome to come along and make the most of this vibrant and welcoming space at Valley Central as the club marks Young Greenwich Day.
