On World Down Syndrome Day (Friday, March 21st), Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) are reflecting on the memorable 12 months which the Charlton Upbeats have enjoyed.
Thanks to the generous donations from the Addicks family and beyond, CACT has been able to provide the Upbeats with a variety of exciting activities over the past year. Their experiences have stretched both on the football pitch and beyond, including:
- Weekly training sessions at Sparrows Lane
- Being hosted by Kent Cricket for the Kent Spitfire’s fixture against Glamorgan
- Traveling to Belfast to compete in the George Best Community Cup
- Taking part in the Westminster Mile
- Enjoying a holiday at Center Parcs
- Attending an exclusive party for CACT’s Disability Groups at the Ministry of Sound nightclub
- Winning the Down's Syndrome Football Festival, hosted by CACT and Ballerz Bluewater
- A Christmas party for the Upbeats, along with their family and friends
- Re-creating goal celebrations with the women’s first-team
- An upcoming visit to a men's first-team training session
Ahead of this year’s annual Upbeats Walk, which will take place before the men’s first team’s game against Lincoln City at The Valley on Saturday, April 5th (3pm KO), Addicks fans are encouraged to either sign up for the walk or donate to help the Upbeats create even more unforgettable memories together.
