Charlton Athletic central defender Jason Pearce paid a visit to L&Q’s One Goal holiday programme at Woolwich Dockyard YMCA last Wednesday, 26th October.
He helped out with t-shirt making, played some basketball and some 5-a-side with the youngsters attending. He also took a Q&A as life as a professional footballer, revealing his toughest opponents as Fernando Torres and Charlton’s own Ademola Lookman.
Speaking at the event, Jason said: “It’s great to come down and give something back to the local kids.”
“Seeing the players gives them something to aspire to and achieve their dreams. I loved meeting them and have been really impressed with this programme Charlton Athletic Community Trust puts on.”
As a result of the visit, Jason has agreed to become an Ambassador to L&Q’s One Goal programme.
Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) partner with L&Q Housing to deliver multi-sport and creative arts camps for young people aged 5-21 across Royal Greenwich and Bexley.
L&Q also partners with 9 other professional football clubs to deliver the One Goal programme across London. 2000 young people were reached by the scheme across the capital this October half term.
Bradley Marshall, who runs the programme for CACT said: “I can’t thank Jason enough for his visit and support of the scheme as it continues to go from strength to strength in South East London and across the capital.”
