Gassan Ahadme was pleased with the team’s performance as his second-half header helped the Addicks to a 2-0 win over Portsmouth in their final game of pre-season.
“It’s been a good day,” he said. “Really good work from the team. Really good game to get us ready for the start of the season.
“We looked really solid. We had some ideas on how we wanted to play, how we wanted to look as a team. We looked like a compact team, it was hard to break us down.
“We had a couple more chances, but 2-0 is a good victory, with a clean sheet.”
It was Ahadme’s first goal in Charlton red, but the striker has scored at The Valley before, having claimed two for Cambridge United last season.
“It was a really good run from TC [Tyreece Campbell],” he said. “He found me really well in the box, and I just had to tap it in.
“Hopefully I can keep this up for the next games that I play at The Valley, and away as well. I’ll try and do my best in every game that I play for Charlton. So, hopefully I can keep the good form and keep it going and have a really good season individually but especially as a team, because that’s the most important thing.”
Ahead of the start of the season next weekend, Ahadme was pleased to get the last bit of preparation under his belt.
“It was the last test before the start of the season,” he said. “Today, I really needed those minutes as I haven’t had the minutes in pre-season, for various reasons. But today was a good day. It’s getting me ready for the start of the season. Today I felt really good and I feel really good going forward, so that’s the most important thing.”
The striker is now fully settled in and raring to go. “I’m really enjoying it. I have a really good relationship with my teammates,” he said.
“It’s a really good group, with the coaching staff and everybody that works at the club as well. We are working together so everything’s been smooth. It’s been an easy integration for me.”
