Bradley breakthrough gives the Addicks a point

Mary Bashford

An incomparable sense of togetherness was put on display by Charlton Athletic Women today as they walked away with a point from a battle at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City were on the front foot for the majority of the first half, while the Addicks struggled to get into rhythm and retain possession.

The team took a blow in the 21st minute when Charlotte Newsham was forced off the pitch due to injury and was replaced by Mary Bashford, who delivered a resilient performance in her place.

The Robins found their breakthrough in the 38th minute from a set piece, putting the Addicks on the back foot for the remainder of the half, despite their best efforts to respond.

On her four-year anniversary at Charlton Athletic, Hills must have delivered an inspiring team talk as the Addicks came out a different team and wasted no time finding the equaliser.

In the 52nd minute, Bradley unleashed a bold strike from 25 yards out, sending the ball into the back of the net!

Charlton looked confident after this, creating more attacking chances, but none that resulted in the crucial final touch.

In the last 10 minutes of the game, the Addicks found themselves in a familiar situation — under pressure, as they had been in their previous two games. Determined not to let history repeat itself, they showed grit and resilience to deny Bristol City any chance of finding a winner, even with seven minutes of stoppage time added on.

Charlton Athletic can be proud of their performance, showing grit and unity to secure a hard-earned point.
