As the charitable arm of Charlton Athletic Football Club, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) are proud to reaffirm our unequivocal commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and the fight against racism.
We recognise that Charlton Athletic and CACT have a long, proud, and important history of promoting equality and tackling discrimination. However, in light of recent events, we believe it is more important than ever to stand up against discrimination.
We believe that football has the power to bring people together, to unite people from all backgrounds and of different identities, and to inspire positive change.
We recognise the immense influence and reach of our platform, and we are dedicated to using it to promote our core values of integrity, respect, and equity, and our wider strategic ambition to be ‘an equity-led organisation’.
We recognise that we have a responsibility to lead by example and to use our platform to advocate for positive change. We are actively working to promote diversity and inclusion within our own team, as well as with our stakeholders, and are committed to fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and acceptance.
For example, CACT’s EDI Charter sets out our commitment to promote, support and encourage the values of equality, diversity and inclusion with external partners, stating that we will only: “engage with external partners who can demonstrate a commitment to EDI, and who align with our core values”.
We stand together with those who have been discriminated against - committed to actively creating an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and free from discrimination, where everyone is valued and respected for who they are - All Different, All Together, All Charlton.
