Tyreece Campbell spoke of his excitement at writing another chapter in his Charlton career after the academy graduate signed a new contract with the club.
The new deal sees the 20-year-old commit to a further two years at The Valley, with a club option of a further year - a duration which would see Campbell reach his 15th year as an Addick.
“I’m very pleased,” smiled Campbell. “I’ve been here a long time, and to be here even longer is great.”
The winger is coming off the back of his biggest season yet for the men's first-team having contributed 10 goal involvements in 40 appearances, but he insists he will be demanding even more from himself next time around.
“Last season could have been better at some points,” he said. “I thought it could have been better individually, and as a team we could have done a lot better. I want to make sure next season is better for me and the team.”
The Addicks will be spurred on by a full pre-season under Nathan Jones, and Campbell is excited to improve his game further under the Welshman.
“It’s been great so far,” he explained. “He demands a lot from us players, and he knows how to get the best out of us. I’ve been able to learn a lot.
“He expects us to work hard whenever we’re on the pitch. He wants me to express myself when I get into the final third - take risks and create chances.
“I’m really looking forward to next season already. The whole team is positive - we all have the same goal and hopefully we can achieve it.”
Even further motivation was provided by a gift that Campbell recently received - a signed shirt from Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka.
“He’s part of my agency,” the youngster revealed. “The season before last I scored and I did his celebration. He saw it and sent me the shirt.
“He’s someone I look up to - I try and base my game around him, Ademola Lookman, Jérémy Doku, Jadon Sancho and Vinícius Júnior as well.”
