Charlton team up with Cyberlabs to launch Gaming Box

'

Charlton Athletic is proud to announce a unique partnership with Cyberlabs to introduce the Cyberlabs Gaming Box, a state-of-the-art gaming and entertainment space located in the Alan Curbishley Stand at The Valley.

This renovated box will enable matchday and non-matchday experiences, offering fans and visitors a unique blend of gaming and football.

Sponsored by Cyberlabs, the Gaming Box will feature consoles, PC gaming desk set-ups provided by UNEVN, and immersive virtual reality (VR), alongside comfortable seating inside, allocated seats in the stand, fridges, and more. Guests will have hot and cold food and beverage options to choose from too, making it perfect for group outings, birthday parties, corporate away days, and special occasions.

Designed for multi-purpose use, including Esports, streaming, podcasts, and more, it will serve as an exciting addition to the club’s matchday offering. It will also support non-matchday usage for fans, brands, Esports teams, creators, and media. Furthermore, the Gaming Box will enhance the club’s own media and marketing capabilities while supporting the Charlton Athletic Community Trust in driving impactful social initiatives.

Ed Kim, Abdiqani Ahmed and Sam Cooke, the founders of Cyberlabs, have brought both their passion and expertise to this project. As a lifelong Charlton fan and former board member of Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST), Cooke expressed his excitement for the collaboration: "Even if I wasn’t a fan, this partnership would be something special. It’s an honour to sponsor Charlton Athletic and be able to work closely with the club.

"We’re confident this initiative will provide the club another way to deliver for partners, diversify revenue, bring Charlton closer to more fans, strengthen our digital presence, and give fans the option of a different experience at The Valley. The Community Trust already does incredible work, and we believe this space can help to amplify their efforts too."

Cyberlabs, based in London, is focused on advancing digital entertainment within education, sports, community, and leisure venues globally. Cyberlabs will design, fit and kit out the space and help the club to operate it too. This isn’t Cyberlabs’ first experience with the club, having sponsored Charlton Athletic Women’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur in February 2024.

Barry Higson, Head of Commercial at Charlton Athletic, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Cyberlabs to bring this innovative Gaming Box to The Valley. It’s an exciting addition that offers tremendous benefits to our fans and community, aligning perfectly with Charlton’s commitment to enhancing the supporter experience both on and off matchdays. We’re confident this partnership will create new opportunities for fan engagement and community impact."

Charlton Athletic’s ownership group continues to drive innovation and aim for an enhanced and varied fan experience. The Cyberlabs Gaming Box complements the new and popular Fan Zone and demonstrates how football clubs can integrate entertainment, especially gaming, and have a community impact.
