Alex Gilbert reflected on his first fortnight at the club after joining the Addicks on loan from Middlesbrough on deadline day.
The attacking midfielder to assisted the all-important winner in midweek as his fantastic corner teed up Macaulay Gillesphey, who headed home with full-time fast approaching.
"It’s been really good," explained Gilbert. "All the lads have been really welcoming and all the staff have been also. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and I’m settling in now.
"When you get the 10-15 minutes off the bench, to make the impact you need to produce as much quality as you can. That's the type of player I am - I like to be creative and set pieces are a way I can do that.
"It was definitely bouncing towards the end - the fans were almost sucking the ball into the net for us! It was good and really positive."
The 23-year-old revealed he spoke to former Addick Anfernee Dijksteel ahead of his move and the play-off winner had nothing but praise for the club.
"I did mention it to him, we get on really well me and Anf," Gilbert said. "He didn’t particularly want me to go as we have a good relationship and friendship, but he said that Charlton would look after me and that it's a great place. He hasn’t got a bad word to say about it down here - he almost did the reverse and made me want to go more!
"I knew about the interest a bit before it happened, there was a bit of umming and ahing from Boro as to whether they wanted to let me go or not. I said to them that I was big on game time, and this was the best option. I really wanted it to happen the second I found out about it."
Asked about his international aspirations, the Republic of Ireland youth international said: "Things like that come naturally and you cross that bridge when you come to it. You have to be playing to get opportunities like that, so that's my main focus - get playing and anything that follows is a bonus.
"Once you get playing and you get in the swing of things, it starts to happen for you. I’ve noticed in my career that once I get one goal it starts to become a snowball effect, and they keep on coming. I’m hoping I can get off the mark and go from there."
