MATCH PREVIEW: Portsmouth v Charlton

Match Preview - Portsmouth

This weekend, Charlton will travel down south to face Portsmouth. They last played Pompey back in September, securing a convincing 3-0 victory in their first game of the season.

Charlton

Charlton will be playing for the first time this month, as their fixture at The Valley was called off due to a frozen pitch. They were due to face Blackburn Rovers, but the match has now been rescheduled for the 9th of March. Karen Hills’ side currently sit fifth in the table, two points behind Durham with a game in hand. Their two league games of 2025 both ended in victory, securing three points against Durham and Sheffield United.

Portsmouth

It has been a very difficult season for Portsmouth so far, as they remain winless in the Championship and currently sit in the relegation zone. Pompey turned fully professional in May 2024, shortly after sealing the National League South title. Their most recent match saw a narrow 1-0 defeat to London City Lionesses.

Last Time Out

The two sides first met back in September last year, when Charlton secured a comfortable 3-0 victory. Ellie Brazil opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Jodie Hutton doubled Charlton’s lead 13 minutes later. Brazil then sealed the win with her second goal of the match.

Head to Head

Charlton faced Pompey in the Women’s South Conference back in 2018, earning a 1-0 victory. In September 2017, they managed another 1-0 triumph, and in April earlier that year, they secured a 3-0 win over Portsmouth.
