Jones: 'We've got to go back to basics'

Nathan Jones has called for his side to 'go back to basics' ahead of Tuesday's trip to Bristol Rovers.

Saturday's narrow defeat at Stevenage made it back-to-back league losses for the Addicks for the first time since Jones joined the club in February.

"We need to [put things right on Tuesday]," said the gaffer. "We've got to go back to basics and make sure that we're better in what we do, and hopefully we can start picking up results again.

"Look, we've lost two but we were third in the league before that," he added. "We've just slipped down in the last two games, so we're not panicking in any way, it's just I'd like us to be better with the work that we do."

Asked what test he expects from Bristol Rovers, Jones said: "A tough one. It's League One, it's a different test week in, week out - you can go to Birmingham, you can go to Huddersfield, you can go to Stevenage, you can go to Burton and they're all different tests.

"It's not like the Premier League where everyone passes and plays or the Championship and stuff; there's a different test every week and that's what makes English football brilliant."

The boss confirmed that Gassan Ahadme, who missed Saturday's clash against Stevenage with a fractured nose, is set to be available for the Addicks' trip to The Memorial Stadium.

“He just needed his mask to arrive -  he can’t play without the mask," he explained. "The mask takes a little bit of time, so it was one of those things.

"It's arrived now so he will hopefully be back in contention."
