Josh Laqeretabua admitted he was 'buzzing' to make his league debut during the Addicks' 1-0 victory at Burton Albion in midweek.
The 19-year-old academy prospect, who was also in the matchday squad for last weekend's trip to Huddersfield Town, replaced Matty Godden in the 87th minute.
"It was good, there was a great atmosphere," Laqeretabua smiled. "There were a lot of fans there and the away fans were raring to go. It was good to be there.
"[Nathan Jones] told me to defend with my life and play forward. I was more excited than nervous to be honest! I was excited to get on the pitch and take my opportunity.
"My family and friends were all buzzing," he added. "I received lots of nice messages."
The versatile youngster, who has been capped by Fiji U20s, has now earned five senior appearances for the Addicks.
“I think I’ve had a good start [to the season] - I started a bit slow because I got injured, but I’ve been picking it up now. It's really good to be around the first-team.
"We were away for a few days and everyone was really welcoming and friendly with me. It made me feel welcome and a part of the team."
Looking ahead to Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie at Walsall, Laqeretabua said: "I’m buzzing! The mood around the training ground is good and the boys are feeling bubbly."
