MATCH PREVIEW | Walsall v Charlton

'

The Addicks are back on the road for the third time in a week this Saturday with a trip to Walsall in the Emirates FA Cup second round (KO 3pm GMT).

Charlton travel to the Poundland Bescot Stadium on the back of a 1-0 win against Burton Albion in midweek thanks to Conor Coventry's first goal for the club.

TEAM NEWS

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Nathan Jones said: “We're in a better place than we were the other day. We've got Greg Docherty suspended, but other than that we've had two or three come back in a better place because of the time. We’ll be in a stronger position, god willing, Saturday than we were on Tuesday.”

Harry Williams could return for the hosts this weekend, though fellow defender Priestley Farquharson (thigh) is sidelined.

THE OPPOSITION

Mat Sadler’s side, who currently sit second in Sky Bet League Two, secured their spot in round two of the Emirates FA Cup with an impressive 2-1 win at home to Bolton Wanderers.

The Saddlers head into this weekend's tie having shared a 2-2 draw with Bromley in midweek.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The two teams have locked horns on 37 previous occasions, with the Addicks winning 19, the Saddlers 10 and the remaining eight fixtures resulting in draws.

Charlton ran out 1-0 victors at the Poundland Bescot Stadium when the sides last met back in August 2022, with Diallang Jaiyesimi netting the decisive goal as the Addicks progressed in the Carabao Cup.
